I spent 5 days in the hospital and then went on con leave for another 5 days. I just got back to FSH and managed to get switched out of this fucking company. Bravo 232 is one of the strictest companies at FSH. Luckily I am getting restarted to Charley. I don’t have much time here so I am going to cut this one short.

I got into Ft. Sam on Saturday afternoon and got all moved into my company. Sunday I was throwing up after every meal, struggling to move, all topped off with a fever of 104. Monday was spent half passing out with auditory hallucinations jarring me awake until one of my friends got someone to get me to the hospital. After 3 hours I was finally driven to the hospital and admitted to the ER. While in the ER I had all sorts of tests done. X-rays, ultrasounds, blood drawn, even a lumbar puncture. I was immediately isolated and everyone that came in my room had to have protective equipment on. I found out later that my diagnosis was pneumonia and aspetic menengitis. On Tuesday my stats were starting to tank so i got moved to the “step down” unit. Which is pretty much a step down from the ICU. They started me on a ton of pills and a bunch more through my IV. Thursday I finally got moved out of step down. Friday I was back in a normal room. Saturday i got discharged, still coughing and lungs still sound like shit. I did get a 5 day leave though. I will be spending my 5 days in Austin sleeping and relaxing so I can hopefully pick up where I left off when i get back on Thursday.

Our ship day is Friday. Some of us left this morning at 0400, others at 0900. Now the rest of us have to sit here until 0200 tomorrow. We are locked away from our gear just trying to kill time. Most if us kept our cellphones so we can at least text people and I can keep my internet connection. At 1300 there is a briefing so hopefully we can get a base pass to head out to the movie theater or maybe go bowling. After 9 weeks here I am so ready to ge the fuck out.

It is nice to finally be able to listen to music again. All my favorite song lyrics had started to fade out of my memory being replaced by cadences. If I was given the option I would opt for going to Atlanta now and wandering the airport for 15 hours. At least there I can sleep and listen to music without the constant fear of having a drill sergeant walk in.

I only have 2 classes left and 2 papers due until I’m finally out of HCC. On top of that I have been fighting with them to get transcripts and schedule some bullshit computer proficiency test.
Along with school work I have to retake a motorcycle class to get my license renewed. That is up in Lakeland all weekend. I am packed up for the most part and closing out the apartment next week will close the deal. Just got done with fighting with AT&T trying to put my phone in hold while I am gone. That about sums it up for now. All that I have left to do is sort out financials and put deferments on student loans.
Wednesday is going to be my day to relax. Going to go out to dinner with my mother on that night and then report in at 6AM. The past 4 years in Florida have taught me one thing…

I will never live in Florida again. Visiting is fine, but I would never want to live here again.

After getting the majority of my sleep on the floor of the terminal at Dulles, Monday was a blur. I didnt get enough sleep on Monday night and I have been dragging all day today. It was hard enough leaving everything I love back in Maine. For once in my entire school career I actually got a decent return by selling my books. Managed to bring in 95% of the original cost. I also managed to aquire 3 books for this semester from friends for next to nothing. About the only thing I had to pay for was 2 books and 3 handouts for a total of $120, cheapest semester so far!

Nothing to over the top please (I tried bringing back a møøse once but he bit mi sister). It also must be able to be brought back in a checked bag (that also eliminates the midget strippers and 3 kilos of coke). I do have my camera so hopefully I will actually remember to take pictures so I can post them.

I normally shoot a Springfield Armory XD9 subcompact and a Bersa Thunder 380. Both are carry guns, depending on what I am wearing and where I am going. I also use them for IDPA and USPSA competitions. When I got there I had to wait for the range officer to get back from lunch before I could go onto the range. While sitting there I ended up talking to one of the employees about playing paintball and exchanged stories. I stopped playing after breaking my arm so I have plenty of gear still lying around. Shortly after we struck on a deal. He ended up trading a new, never fired, Bushmaster M4A3 in return for roughly $1500 worth of painball guns (all won at tournaments so they didnt cost me a penny). With this trade now I can actually compete effectively in 3-gun and action rifle matches. Pictures will be posted later so check back.

Sunday I woke up and started getting brewing supplies together. About 8 hours later I now have 4 of my 5 fermenters filled. I will post some pictures i have stockpiled from my random brewing weekends that I will post later. Enough for now, I should probably pay attention to my psych professor now.
